Avocado Toast Guide - LA, NY & Tulum

I love avocado toast! It's the perfect healthy brunch or lunch meal. My favorite is made with chunky mashed avocado on slightly toasted sourdough bread topped with tomatoes, a sprinkling of red pepper flakes and drizzled with olive oil. Here is a list of some of my go-to spots.

TULUM

El Pez Hotel - The restaurant here has amazing avocado toast served with Requeson cheese (similar to ricotta), pumpkin seeds and a green salad.

Del Cielo - Cozy, family owned cafe that serves breakfast and lunch and offers fresh juices, smoothies and coffee. They have an avocado tartine which is their version of avocado toast with feta cheese on top

Fresco's - Located in the Beach Tulum Hotel, this restaurant is all about healthy eating. They make all their baked goods in house and locally source all their produce. The avocado toast here comes with a hardboiled egg and is drizzled in olive oil.

Joseph Leonard - Located in the West Village this restaurant serves New American fare from breakfast to late-night in a rustic space. The avocado mash is served on toasted thick-cut country bread with a sprinkling of chili flakes, a side of baby lettuce, and two eggs (any style). Their avocado toast is so good!!

Rucalo - Worth the trek to Brooklyn's Boerum Hill, this place focuses on high quality ingredients simply prepared to highlight the fresh produce. Their avocado toast is made with a crusty slice of toasted sourdough topped with avocado mash, freshly sliced tomatoes and a fine drizzle of olive oil.

Cafe GitaneCafé Gitane has multiple locations in NYC and is the birthplace of avo-toast in the city. The Nolita favorite is a frequent haunt for an avocado mash on seven-grain toast, drizzled with EVOO, lemon juice and a sprinkling of red pepper flakes.

LA

Jon & Vinny's - Located on Fairfax Ave, this Italian restaurant serves a great breakfast too. Simple ingredients, yummy results. Avocado, Olive Oil, Grilled Ciabatta bread from Gjusta, Crushed Red Chili Flakes, Lemon

Sqirl Kitchen - When I lived in Silver Lake this was a frequent haunt of mine. They are better known for its' ricotta toast, but the avocado toast is equally as delicious and unique with green garlic crème fraiche, spicy pickled carrots, and house za’atar.

Il Caffe - Located inside Acne Studio's store, this coffee shop has delicious paninis and avocado toast. When I worked downtown I would go here almost everyday.
